Ingredients

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups mixed fresh berries (e.g., raspberries, blueberries, strawberries)

FOR GARNISH

  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and salt.
  3. Add cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the egg until the dough comes together. Press the dough into a tart pan and pierce the bottom with a fork.
  5. Bake the crust for 20-25 minutes until set. Let it cool completely.
  6. In a saucepan over medium heat, heat the heavy cream until it simmers. Remove from heat and add chopped dark chocolate, sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and glossy.
  7. Pour the chocolate ganache into the cooled tart crust and spread evenly. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours until set.
  8. Once set, top with fresh mixed berries before serving. Garnish with mint leaves and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The tart is best enjoyed cold or at room temperature.

When making the tart crust, ensure your butter is cold for the best texture. If using frozen berries, thaw and drain them well to prevent excess moisture in your tart.

Feel free to experiment with different types of berries based on what’s in season—raspberries, strawberries, or blueberries all work beautifully. To serve, consider adding a dollop of whipped cream or a sprinkle of sea salt for an extra touch.
