Ingredients

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup cooked ham, finely chopped
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases.
  3. Spread the chopped ham evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the ham, and add the chopped herbs. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Starting from one edge, roll the pastry tightly into a log shape.
  6. Slice the log into 1-inch thick pinwheels and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Brush the tops of the pinwheels with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pinwheels are puffed and golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes

Tip: For a touch of sweetness, add a sprinkle of brown sugar to the ham before rolling. These pinwheels are best served hot but can be reheated in the oven.

For a little extra zing, consider adding a layer of Dijon mustard before placing the ham and cheese. If you want a vegetarian option, try substituting the ham with sautéed mushrooms or spinach.

These pinwheels can be made ahead of time and frozen. Just pop them in the oven when you’re ready to serve! They are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
