Ingredients

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon matcha green tea powder
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a mini muffin pan or line it with paper liners.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the matcha powder with a tablespoon of warm water to create a paste. Gently fold this into half of the brownie batter.
  5. Divide the batter equally into two bowls. To one bowl, add the matcha paste and gently swirl to create a marbled effect.
  6. Spoon the batters into the prepared mini muffin pan, alternating between the chocolate and matcha batters.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of each brownie bite before baking.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Tip: These brownie bites taste even better the next day as the flavors meld together!

If you want to enhance the matcha flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of matcha powder on top before serving. For a variation, you could also mix in some chopped nuts or add a layer of chocolate ganache for extra richness. These brownie bites can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or in the refrigerator for a week.

Be careful not to overbake; the brownies should be soft in the center for that perfect fudgy texture. Enjoy them chilled for a refreshing take on this delightful treat!
