Ingredients

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, flour, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  3. In a cast-iron skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, then sprinkle the brown sugar and ground cinnamon evenly over the melted butter.
  4. Pour the batter into the skillet over the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  5. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the edges are puffed and golden brown.
  6. While the Dutch baby is baking, prepare the maple glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla extract in a small bowl.
  7. Once baked, remove the Dutch baby from the oven and drizzle the maple glaze over the top before serving.

Notes

Tip: For an extra touch, garnish with chopped nuts or fresh fruits before serving.

For the best results, make sure your oven is fully preheated before adding the batter to ensure maximum puffiness. If you don’t have whole milk, any milk will work, but whole milk provides a richer flavor.

This dish is best served immediately, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Reheat in the oven for a warm breakfast treat.
