  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • 4 pita breads, cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for brushing
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, basil, garlic, and olive oil.
  2. Blend until smooth, adding water as needed to achieve desired consistency.
  3. Season with salt to taste and pulse again to combine.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Arrange the pita wedges on a baking sheet and brush with olive oil.
  6. Sprinkle with paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.
