Ingredients

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 3 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a tart pan. Prick the bottom with a fork and bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden. Set aside.
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced pears, brown sugar, ground ginger, and cinnamon. Cook until the pears are soft and caramelized, about 10-12 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, grated ginger, and a pinch of salt until soft peaks form.
  4. Spread the whipped cream mixture evenly over the baked tart crust.
  5. Once the pears are caramelized, arrange them on top of the whipped cream filling in an artistic pattern. Chill the tart in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Storage: Store any leftover tart in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a low oven if desired.

For the best results, use ripe but firm pears to ensure they hold their shape when caramelized. If you’re short on time, you can use store-bought pastry dough for the crust, but homemade adds a lovely touch.

Consider adding a sprinkle of chopped pecans or walnuts on top for an extra crunch. This tart can be made a day in advance; simply store it in the refrigerator and serve it chilled or at room temperature.
