Ingredients

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Nutella

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and egg to the butter mixture, and beat until well combined.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips, distributing them evenly throughout the dough.
  7. In a greased 10-inch skillet, spread half of the cookie dough evenly across the bottom.
  8. Make small wells in the dough and spoon Nutella into each well, then cover with the remaining cookie dough.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
  10. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving, preferably with a scoop of ice cream on top. Enjoy!

Notes

Tip: For an extra gooey center, slightly underbake the skillet cookie; it will continue to cook as it cools.

For a fun twist, you can add chopped nuts or sea salt on top before baking for added flavor and texture. If you don’t have Nutella, any chocolate spread can be used as a substitute. Make sure you let the skillet cool slightly before serving to avoid burning your mouth on the hot filling!

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, but this treat is best enjoyed fresh out of the oven. Reheat in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds if you want that gooey texture back.
